Fed up with the feast and famine cycle in freelancing?

Struggling to stand out against the competition?

Is imposter syndrome holding you back?

Stuck in a race to the bottom on freelance platforms?

Overwhelmed by marketing?

Frustrated by inconsistent income?

Exhausted by the constant hustle?

Do you want clients to come to YOU instead of competing with 1,234 other freelancers on job boards?

If promoting your freelance business feels uncomfortable, confusing, and draining, you’re absolutely not alone.

10 years ago, the thought of openly promoting my business filled me with dread. So I just… didn’t do it.

But I quickly realised that everyone else was landing big-name clients and I was still stuck on the content mills chasing £100 gigs. I knew something had to change.

I didn’t just force myself to do it (if you’re anything like me, being forced to do something will absolutely make you want to do the opposite!).

Instead, I found a promotion strategy that worked for ME. Because that’s what was holding me back: it felt like all the “marketing tactics” out there weren’t a good fit for me and my business. They felt icky. The last thing I wanted to do was beg clients to hire me on a public social media platform.

Instead of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, I took a step back and devised a schedule that not only worked but that I LOVED.

Today, I thoroughly enjoy promoting my freelance business because I know how to do it well.

It’s not just about posting the right things at the right time, it’s about tying everything together in a cohesive, consistent online presence—this was my “a-ha!” moment. And it’s going to be yours, too, I guarantee it.

Because if you’re not promoting your business, you are 100% missing out on freelance clients (probably some big-name clients, too).

As freelancers, we always have to be marketing. Even when we’re busy. What happens when a contract ends or our current list of leads dries up?

Well, shucks, we’re out of work and back to square one. Which means at least a month trying to find new work, a month getting settled, and another month until we’re paid. You could be three months away from your next paycheck.

But if you bake a consistent promotion strategy into your workweek, you won’t ever have to feel the mad panic of losing a contract again. I’ve yet to have a single month where I’ve had no clients and no money. And I put that down to having a solid marketing system in place.

Here’s what you get when you invest in The Promo Playbook:

What is The Promo Playbook?

The Promo Playbook is a series of practical exercises that help you figure out what you should be posting, how to turn “followers” or “views” into actual paying clients, and key strategies for attracting the right type of clients.

There are many, many (70+) prompts you can use for inspiration, but there is also behind-the-scenes stuff you can do to get comfy with promoting your business and create a consistent strategy that’s easy to manage (and, most importantly, WORKS!).

The Promo Playbook is hosted on Notion (you don’t need to have Notion though!) and is segmented into three sections:

  1. Pre-promotion prep
  2. Practical exercises
  3. Mindset tips

What about pitching?

I love pitching (I have a dedicated course about it), but The Promo Playbook is all about finding ways to stay visible whether you have a full roster or not. Pitching is an active marketing method (because you’re actively seeking out work), whereas The Promo Playbook covers passive marketing methods you can do on a daily or weekly basis to keep your pipeline full.
